Since Halloween is just right around the corner, for some, its time to start thinking about Halloween costumes. Most of us want something that is quick and easy and don't have a lot of time to fuss over the costume. We normally need to dress ourselves and our children if we partake in Halloween activities. Below are a few simple ideas for costumes that only require every day household items.

American Tourist - Men should wear a brightly colored Hawaiian type of shirt with shorts. A straw hat, if you have one will go nicely. Add your camera around your neck and stick a map hanging out of your pocket. You can also use tourist attraction brochures if you have those too. For women, wear a brightly colored dress, with big bold flowers on it, if you have it. Grab a straw hat and your camera. Don't forget your sunglasses!

Hobo or Bum - this is one of the easiest quickie costumes you can dream up. Wear bummy clothes, like your old sweats, baggy over coat, or pants that dont fit. You can dirty up your face with either ashes or makeup. You can also call yourself a chimney sweeper if you add a broom.

The Coat of Arms - Cut the sleeves off old jackets or shirts that are no good any longer. Stuff the arms with either newspaper or plastic grocery bags, whatever you have. Take the arms and safety pin them to your coat or jacket.

The Wind Blown Man (or Woman) - You will want your hair to look like it is windblown so use gel or hairspray for that part. Take some newspaper and affix it to your leg like it has been blown up on your leg by the wind. Take a hat and have it protrude like its blowing off your head by attaching it to a wire hanger that also sits on your head.

Bunch of grapes - use purple or green balloons and safety pin them to your shirt. Cut grape leaves out of construction paper and tape them around your neck after youve attached the balloons. Wear a hat that you can affix a stem made out of construction paper to. If you have green or purple tights to match, great, if not, jeans will do just fine.

The Basket of Laundry - Take an old laundry basket that you don't care about and cut a hole in the bottom of it. It should be a hole large enough so that it will sit right on your hips when you pull it over your head. Wear a sweatshirt and sweat pants. Once you have the laundry basket sitting on your hips, add clothing to it along with a few dryer sheets. Also take dryer sheets and attach them to your sweatshirt with safety pins.

Even if you do have time to shop for your Halloween costume this year, you might want to consider one of these homemade Halloween costume suggestions. Either way, have a safe and fun Halloween!
