The sickness always strikes us when we least notice it, when suddenly you feel something is wrong with your body. When you realize something is wrong, you cannot do anything because you feel powerless and weak to do anything. You will feel that your heart is beating at a fast pace and when you are trying to breath, it is not working well. The first thought that comes to mind would be you have a heart attack or you are dying. Worse, the visit to the doctors may leave you baffled because they cannot find anything wrong with you after all the lab tests.

The name Agoraphobia actually refers to the condition of an individual where they dislike attending functions or events at some places or locations or having to face certain conditions because they know by doing so they are most likely to suffer another anxiety attack again. When we look more closely at the word itself, we can understand the real meaning of the unbearable condition. By understanding and analyzing the key word Agoraphobia we can fully understand the extent of this illness. First of all, the word "Agora" would be explained as the area or location where the people would go and meet by the Greek people, while "phobia" is having certain fears. From that explanation we understand that the individuals who suffer from Agoraphobia are fearful of going to and staying in places or areas overcrowded with people. The Agoraphobia illness would gradually worsen as time goes by. Often it starts happening after the person suffers his or her first panic attack. After the individual suffers the first attack, he doesn't realize that their minds are preparing themselves for another attack and subconsciously you are afraid of heading into situations or locations that you think might cause you to suffer another attack. The never ending cycle of the attacks and the fear and preparation for the in coming attacks would make you change the way you live your life to further accommodate the fears. Since the anxiety attacks can happen anywhere and anytime, then under normal conditions we would assume the location where we felt the attack coming as the main cause of the attacks. An agoraphobia sufferer will go out of their way to avoid those places and situations where a panic attack may occur. They may even end up being housebound as they avoid being in crowded places. This unhealthy lifestyle can in itself trigger agoraphobic attacks to occur in everyday normal situations. The increased heart rate may also cause a panic attack because you may think that you're having a heart attack. As you can see this is a vicious and extremely debilitating mental condition. For sufferers of panic attacks they should seek the medical aid of doctors who specialize in these mental disorders and receive treatment before their panic attacks spiral into agoraphobia where they may end up being restricted in their lifestyle due to their ever increasing fear of being helpless in the face of a panic attack.
