Most of us have experienced that sensation when we first stand up or get out of our car that our muscles are resentful of our effort to move them. We chalk up these aches to the combination of long periods of immobility or the effect of our getting older. Certainly each of these contributes to the feeling of discomfort we occasionally experience, but neglecting these warnings is unwise. A quick visit to a Chiropractic clinic could do away with these sensations and let us feel refreshed again.

Our health is something we spend the first half of our life taking for granted, trusting nature with keeping us healthy. We know that we must eat the proper foods in moderation and make the effort to get sufficient exercise, and we will be rewarded with a healthy body. When we are injured or sick, our society tells us to go to the doctor, who will fix the problem.

When we do get something that makes us feel sick, the normal reaction is to visit a doctor who will examine us and decide what is causing our problem, and give us something to eradicate it. If it something more serious, he may even decide we need to have something physically excised to make us well again. Both of these approaches are intrusive to our internal environment, and require that we recover from this as well as the original complaint.

While we have become very accomplished at this practice, inventing new chemicals or surgical procedures for every malady, one thing they all seem to have in common is a period of time for us to recover from the procedure. That is because this approach reaches over the body to attack an offending element. The chiropractic approach is to instead discover what has impeded the ability of our body to heal itself, and correct that problem.

Mankind has known about its ability to self heal for a very long time, and the traditions of indigenous peoples are rich with the methods and means for assisting it. With the advent of the discipline of chiropractic, a focus on how to remove that which would interfere with our natural healing came to pass. Using a deep understanding of the human anatomy and physiology and the means the chiropractor seeks to aid in wellness, not impose it.

It has finally become popular to at least recognize the value of a patient being able to influence his own recovery with the increasing influence of team medicine and a holistic view of the nature of well being. The idea that the mental and spiritual condition of an individual impacts their state of being acknowledges an intrinsic bent towards wellness that should be nurtured. This is the chiropractic approach, to remove the things that prevent us from being well or regaining wellness, instead of trying to kill or remove an attacking external agent.

Since the nervous system is housed largely in the spinal column, the alignment of the complex series of vertebrae has a significant impact on the spinal chord. This is a likely source of any difficulty we might be encountering. Frequently most of our aches and pains can be ameliorated simply by adjusting the alignment of the bones in our back, or through the manipulation of muscle fibers to release pent up chemical byproducts amassed during our daily activity.

Unfortunately, the only time most of us consider chiropractic is after traditional methods have failed to provide the relief we need following car accidents or when pain has become unbearable. If we were to include a visit to a chiropractic clinic in our regimen of health at the time we first begin to experience discomfort, we would feel a lot better. Chiropractic can take care of simple problems before they require more intense attention, and help us feel younger again.
